Dont normally pay attention to Spotify recommendations expecially when they spam my newsfeed on Facebook with them.

SO. For reasons unknown to my current concious self I started listening to this. Light years better than the radiot edit they’re trying to push.

I’ve been coming back to this more often then I thought I woiuld.

Bestest and greatest Crystal Fighters are releasing a new album this year.

How good is this gonna be live? That good.

So I’ve found my new pre-party or ‘I need to get pumped’ track. Been playing it for a few weeks now. If you watch ‘Girls’ (like I know you do) or Snooki and Jwow’s show (info acquired via younger sister) then you’re already familiar with this song. I’ve seen posters of the girls in Icona Pop all over the city during the past year but I’ve habitually been ignoring them. They’re apparently touring with Marina and the Diamonds stateside. So buy a ticket and then leave after they’ve finished. Excuse me while I go and finish attaching streamers to all my jackets.

Did I mention that they’re Swedish?

I’m in love. This track is such a quality piece that I’ve had it on repeat for the past week. I like to think of it as ‘modern 80’s’. Is that a thing? Lets make it a thing. Reminds me a lot of Miguel, but dont worry it holds it’s own. To my very own shock-of-surpise they hail from Sweden…yea I know!

The Newtimers-Falling

You know in the middle of winter you hear a track that makes you go ‘I cant wait for spring/summer’. The reverse never happens for me in the summer. Christmas songs in in July actually get my gag reflexes going. Play this if it’s snowing outside your window too.

I have found so many great tracks on these ‘best of 2012’ lists it’s getting stupid….

The release of tension at 2:02 just ends me every single time. Thank you  Gorilla vs Bear. For further investigation go to Pye Corner Audio Transcription Services, you’re in for a treat.

The Curtain falls…

So it’s here. It’s come round quick right? The ‘best of, end of year’ lists are being launched all over the net. As usual everyone is weighing in and disagreeing (it’s tradition!)

The lists that I enjoy the most are on Gorilla vs Bear and Popmatters. Both sites are generally really brilliant sources on new music. I highly recommend. Gorilla vs Bear have pulled together a spotify list for your listening convenience and Popmatters goes that extra mile and does lists by genre as well. How much do we love the internet? Time to catch up and revise my friends. Any lists you guys follow?

Animal Collective

Animal Collective concert here in Stockholm tomorrow. Sort of excited. I’ve always had mixed feelings about this group, truth be told I think I prefer Noah Lennox’s solo material. However having said that they seem like a group that would give an original performance, which is always something to applaud. Can’t imagine how grating it would be to perform the same set night after night.

Anyway. Hey ho! Ages since I went to a gig, should be good.

I saw this guy in Gothenburg this summer at the Way Out West festival. The less said about the festival  itself the better…

Kindness were one of the many club acts playing in and around the city. I felt that the actual perfomance itself was a bit uneven and that the medley of 90’s songs they did towards the end of the show could’ve been left out, or mish mash of….to be honest I’m not sure what was going on during that bit but all of a sudden the backing singers were centre stage singing solos…’Return of the Mack’ was in there somewhere. Having said that they were all really enjoying themselves on stage and Adam Bainbridge is one quirky fellow who’s choreography is entertaining. The album isnt anything ground breaking but it plays quite nicely in the background and makes me look forward to what he might come up with next time.

Not that well known on this side of the Atlantic….but he should get some traction with this track, the beat is hypnotic. I love the lighting in the video but sort of feel that the solo shots of the women were kind of unnecessary. Will be giving his album a whirl.

Kendrick Lamar-Swimming Pools (Drank)

This one is a sneaker…..I love the dark turn it takes at 1:17 mmm, delicious.

Youth Lagoon-Daydream

Sunday Night Blues

With a special extra ingredient in my diet coke, doing some serious audio catch up. Also feelin like the worlds bestest undiscovered dj as I curate a new playlist on spotify.*Imma gangsta baby*

Remix of Lana’s blue jeans track feat Azealia Banks, who i’m still upset with for cancelling her date in Sweden- why book a tour if the album is a priority? However still really feeling her 1991 EP. Anyhew this is a fierce remix, though I realize it’s been floating for a while.

New found appreciation for Miss Del Rey. I love everything about this video.

I couldnt find this on soundcloud or any official video, so avert your eyes when listening (slightly dreadful upload). Syster Sol  a Swedish reggeae artist who I discovered a few years back. I’m not blown away by her but I like her engery and lyrics. Could be interesting for any curator of music out there-give it a play.
